A monthly meeting of the Punjab Government Pensioners Association, Ahmedgarh was held under the chairmanship of Kulwant Singh, during which pensioners raised several long-pending issues related to their welfare.
At the start of the meeting, all members paid respectful tribute on the occasion of the 649th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Ravidas Ji.
During the meeting, Master Ram Singh Dhillon, National Award winner, highlighted the long-pending problems faced by pensioners. He stated that in the Education Department, medical reimbursement bills have been pending for several years. Elderly pensioners are forced to get their treatment done first and then wait for months or even years for reimbursement.
The association demanded that all pending medical bills be cleared immediately. It was further demanded that if payment is delayed, 12 percent interest should be paid to pensioners. Speakers pointed out that due to advancing age, pensioners incur monthly medical expenses of around one thousand rupees or more, which is currently not covered under medical claims. Therefore, such medicines should also be included in the medical claim system.
In addition, the association demanded that the medical allowance be increased to Rs 2000 per month and that pensioners should be given the benefit of Dearness Allowance (DA).
On this occasion, Darshan Singh Dhillon, Jagdish Ram (PTI), Jaswant Singh Sumra (Inspector, Punjab Roadways), Baba Baljinder Singh (S.S.), Meghinder Kaur, Pritam Kaur, and several other members were present at the meeting.
