Ahmedgarh | February 9
Valentine’s Day, often associated only with romantic relationships, is now being given a deeper social meaning. Social workers and thinkers have appealed to the youth to go beyond couples’ celebrations and dedicate this day to expressing respect, love, and gratitude towards parents.
Speaking on the occasion, S. Rotarian Dr. Ravi Sharma said that Valentine’s Day should not be limited to western-style celebrations. Instead, it should become a medium to strengthen family values. He emphasized that parents are the first and most important well-wishers in a person’s life, and honoring them brings emotional strength and stability.
S. Rotarian Ajay Jain shared that Indian culture has always placed parents at the highest position. While modern influences have changed social behavior, it is important for the younger generation to reconnect with traditional values. He suggested that February 14 be observed as a day to show respect and gratitude towards parents.
Religious and spiritual views were also highlighted. Mahadev Temple’s chief priest and astrologer Pandit Shankar Lal Sharma stated that parents’ blessings play a crucial role in a person’s success and happiness. He said that serving and respecting parents leads to peace, prosperity, and positive energy in life.
Social activist Navdeep Sharma added that celebrating Parents’ Respect Day can help build a more sensitive and responsible society. He stressed the need to spread this message in schools, colleges, and neighborhoods so that children grow up understanding the true value of family relationships.
All speakers jointly appealed to society, especially the youth, to transform Valentine’s Day into an occasion that strengthens moral values and emotional bonds, reminding everyone that love begins at home—with parents.
